The Faces Project, Inc.
- Our History
“A human tragedy of one man and one family,
to a community of commitment and outreach”
In 2003, The Faces Project was created and conceived
by
Mr. “O.D.” Dickson Jr., along with his son, Onias “Timothy” Dickson
The Faces Project was their response to a personal crisis that Mr. Dickson and his family had to face. Having lost his father O.D. Dickson Sr. in 1993 to prostate cancer; Mr. Dickson, Jr. was diagnosed with “metastatic prostate cancer” just ten years later.
What angered Mr. Dickson, more than anything else, was the failure on the part of his father’s doctors to tell him that heredity was a very real “risk” factor, and that an annual “PSA” screening is advised.
With three sons, (8, 13, 17) and a legacy of prostate cancer, Mr. Dickson decided to take on the challenge finding the best care for himself and the responsibility of educating and saving other men and their families from the ravages and shame of prostate cancer and prostate disease.
